2018 – The big review!!

December 30, 2018

Wait this can’t be right…It can’t be that time again for my yearly highlights blog…. If you ask me its still September and ive only just packed away the summer sandals! But it is guys…2018 is coming to an end and what an incredible year it has been! This year I have been so fortunate to photograph some fantastic and truly memorable weddings, I have had yet another year of amazing couples…and not only that but Kane (yes…the husband) has joined the team to offer wedding films to our couples! (just going to take this opportunity to say he has totally smashed it with his wedding films and I could’nt be prouder of him!). Together we have been on a hell of a ride this year and been lucky to travel a lot!

So this year I’m going to post a few of my favourites from each of the amazing weddings I have photographed this year…BUT i am also going to include some of my couples favourites too! I am going to share a few travel snaps as well as some home pics too!

So we started the year at Jade and Richards beautiful wedding at Stratton Court Barn …It may have been cold and rainy but that didnt stop us getting back into the swing of weddings! To see more from this wedding

Next up was Amber and Steves wedding at the stunning South Farm…I photographed a few weddings at South Farm this year and you will see from this blog post how different a venue can look throughout the seasons…each just as beautiful but a fantastic venue that really has thought about the different seasons!

After a few rainy weddings to start the year…we were finally had saw some sun and a glimpse of blossom at Robyn and Adams wedding at Latimer Place

That takes us to May…when wedding season really kicked in for us…we started the month with a Black tie wedding for Matt and Emjays wedding at Stubton Hall

Before the back to back weddings of the bank holiday weekend, we decided to take a little drive through Europe with our cameras! It was actually a surprise trip away for Kanes Birthday…we visited Dunkirk (Kanes loves history :D) and then onto Bruges! This was particularly significant as its where film really came to life within business! Sometimes its good to take a drive and see where it takes you…

Back to reality and the bank holiday May weekend…always a busy one for me and this year was no different…back to back weddings starting back at South Farm for Chloe and Simon’s Springtime wedding…One thing that did make me laugh is one of the most talked about picture since the wedding was the one of the mother of the groom dancing away in a mask….scoll across to see!

Next day was Natasha and Simeons wedding at Minstrel Court…a super exciting one for us as it was Kanes first day on the job filming! At first it was strange having the husband at a wedding but equally we do seem to bounce of eachother and it seemed to work…thankfully! To take a look at the feature film from the day click here

Sometimes at weddings you find yourself being a guest too! As June hit I was excited to have been asked to photograph Kanes cousins wedding…although If i’m honest I was a tad nervous in front of the whole family!

Then I was back off on my travels this time to Lake Garda for Charlotte and Chris’s wedding and wow what a venue! With the heavy thunderstorm all day…we were all very pleased that they got the outdoor ceremony they had always dreamt of!

Landed back in the UK..I headed straight of to Dani and Daves wedding at Fanhams Hall ….and just fell in love with those flowers!

Next up was Alisha and Daras wedding at Eversholt Hall ….Just loved the laid back vibe at this one..

And just like that I was back on my travels! This time for Rhodes for Becca and Kevins stunning clifftop wedding and beach reception! Alongside Kane who was filming we had a lot of fun at this one! To see their stunning beach wedding on film click here. We also decided to extend the trip and have our annual holiday here!

And so we enter July…The heatwave month! Oh what a great summer for weddings we had. To start July we were back at Minstrel Court for Jane and Rich outdoor wedding.

So i’m going take you back to 2017, the year I got married! Well back then I got hundreds of questions on who was taking my photos….well I was very lucky to have my friend from Laura from love and life studio photograph our day…shortly after she asked me to repay the favour for her wedding in July 2018 and I was SO excited…oh and what a day it was!!

Let the heatwave continue….next up I was back at South Farm twice this week…first up for Laura and Matts wedding…and we had an outdoor ceremony! Kane also joined me for film…click here for more!

Now to the HOTTEST wedding of 2018….Jenna and Robs wedding at South Farm. It was so hot we decided to do the photos in stages but actually this worked so well as it mean more variety in the photos!

And all of a sudden the heatwave came to an end and the rain came but that didnt put a damper on Nicola and Jacks day at Coltfoot Retreat Barn …even with the rain that didnt stop them getting out and enjoying it! Must say there guests sure new how to party too!

That brings us to August for Emma and Joels wedding at Newton Park Barn…a new venue for me so I was even more excited and with the well placed barn being surrounded by cornfields…it did not disappoint!

April and Adam were next up and having booked me 2 years in advance…I was particularly excited to finally see there day come together. The couple wed at the beautiful Micklefield Hall and thankfully there got their outdoor ceremony and drinks reception before the rain came!

I was so excited to get asked to photograph a brand new wedding venue The Orchard at Chesfield. This new venue is just the perfect location for anyone opting for a relaxed marquee wedding…with its old church ruins and apple orchard it really is something unique! I’m excited to see whats in store for this venue in the next few years!

So for Gemma and Ross’s wedding I had to bring in some help from Jane…my friend and talented photographer…this was because Gemma and Ross decided to hold there wedding on two days, the first one for their wedding at St Micheals Manor and the second for the party at The Cromwell in Stevenage. Sadly I was already booked for the party! So we came up with a plan…I would photograph the wedding and she would capture the party and It worked perfectly….all because both days were awesome!

This takes us to the August bank holiday which is always a busy weekend…so back to back weddings for me starting with Jodie and Ryans carnival themed wedding. The couple choose to decorate their local village hall and transport it into a colourful carnival wedding! It certainly made a change to see a pop of colour! Especially in those stunning bouquets by Kirsty at The flower mill!

Second of the bank holiday weddings was Lindsey and Rich at Waddesdon Manor… as with most bank holidays it did rain but thankfully it stopped just in time for their photos at the manor! Click here to see their film!

Matt and Lauras stunning wedding at Bassmead Barns was next up…This venue really is perfect for weddings, everything is very well planned out making it such a breeze for photography! I absolutely loved the styling on this wedding…oh and they used some of my favourite suppliers too! Willow and Blossom FloralsCara Beard Music The White Emporium!

After a busy bank holiday weekend…we flew to Croatia to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and enjoy a well deserved weekend off work! We loved this weekend….and Croatia was just the most prettiest place!

Returning feeling relaxed we headed to Abby and Gregs wedding at Shuttleworth … This wedding was definitely one to remember with the reception being held in one of the air hangers, the use of aeroplanes for the photos AND a surprise airshow to top off the evening! Kane also joined me to capture it all..click here for more!

Each and every year I work with some amazing suppliers and this year was no different! September we held an awesome styled shoot at Vanstone Park with Country Tipis and Fleur de Lace. Scroll across for some beautiful wedding inspiration and Click here to see it on film!

Autumn was now on its way for Chloe and Robs wedding at Bedford Barns Hotel … This couple really did brave the rain for their photos and I think it was worth it!

Autumn Bouquets were now officially IN! Just look at this stunning florals at Emma and Carls wedding at The Cloisters!

More stunning Autumn blooms…this time working with Cambridge Make Up Artist and Rachel Sokhal Bridal for a beautiful wedding at Bassmead Barns. Florals by the amazing Flowers by Suzanne Randell!

That takes us to our last wedding of the year Jenni and Andy! I actually met Jenni a few years back when she was a bridesmaid for her sisters wedding where I was always the photographer! I do love it when you can go back and catch up with the family!

So as 2018 weddings come to an end….we decided to take a trip to Wales to celebrate the end of our busy season! But of course we took the cameras with us!

So that brings me to the end of my blog! What a crazy filled amazingly busy year! Thank you to all my lovely couples for letting us join them to share their day…each and every one was so unique and beautiful! I really feel so grateful to be given such an important job… to capture these special moments to be enjoyed for years to come! I’m so excited to see where the future will take me…and 2019 is shaping up to be an even busier year. I can’t wait to get started! But for now…to all my 2018 couples…Congratulations! YOU DID IT!
.
THANK YOU for your continued support and well just for being awesome! Lots of Love Nikki

(Ps…here are some behind the scenes of how we captured these moments!)
